An Introduction to our Dental Practice in Burton on Trent

Our preventative and cosmetic dental procedures.

Welcome to our new blog which we will use regularly to keep our patients informed not only about specific dental procedures, but also to offer wider advice on oral health care. If there is any subject that you would like us to cover, do please let us know.

For our initial blog post, we thought that it would be useful to give a brief overview of the services that we have on offer at Mike Allen’s dental practice in Burton upon Trent.

Preventative Dental Care

In an ideal world, none of us would need a dental procedure. Real life though is not like that and we need to continually take care to look after our oral health. Whilst brushing, and equally as important, flossing, are key to basic care, we are also able to help keep your oral health on track via regular visits to our dentists and hygienists.

Family dental care – we offer dental care for the youngest members of the family through to old age. By ensuring that you keep regular appointments with us, any minor problems should be identified before they become major ones and hopefully prevent the need for more invasive surgery.

Gum disease – this is the major cause of tooth loss in the UK, a fact that few people seem to be aware of. Whilst it can be devastating, there really is no need for it to become an issue as it is very treatable in its early stages. For this reason, we encourage patients to see us regularly to preventing serious issues from developing.

Hygienist – as well as maintaining your oral health, our hygienist is also able to offer advice about diet, lifestyle and how to clean and floss your teeth. This advice will also help you to keep your teeth in good condition.

Cosmetic Dentistry

As well as offering preventative dental care, we also offer our patients cosmetic dentistry at our Burton practice. Whilst some of these procedures are purely cosmetic, some of them also offer functional benefits too.

Teeth whitening – this is a fast and non invasive procedure which, in most cases, will make a dramatic and instant improvement to the whiteness of your teeth.

Dental veneers – similar to a false fingernail for a tooth; veneers are made to be attached to the front of a prepared tooth and can be used for whitening purposes or to repair significant chips and cracks.

Orthodontics – dental braces have moved on a great deal since the metal “train track” style braces and now offer a much improved and more discreet method of straightening uneven teeth.

Dental implants – dental implants are now generally considered to be one of the best methods to replace a missing tooth as they are held firmly in place in the jawbone. Once fitted, they are strong and require little other than normal oral health care.

This is just a brief introduction to our services and we will expand on each area in more detail during the coming months.
