Safety First And Foremost

Sterilisation and cleanliness are key to a safe family dental practice.

A lot goes on behind the scenes at any dental practice. Whilst most patients know about the dental procedures that we carry out, there is also paperwork and record keeping, and, most importantly, ensuring that the practice offers a clean and sterile environment for the safety of all of our Burton patients.

Although this is not a high profile aspect of our work, we can assure you that we do all that we can to protect all of our patients, both young and old, from any risk of infections.

Cross infections

One potential risk in any dental practice is that of cross infection. This can be passed between dentist and patient (and vice versa) and also through the instruments that we use. To avoid this happening, all implements that enter a patient’s mouth are either used once only and then disposed of, or, in the case of more expensive equipment, are fully cleaned and sterilised in a vacuum autoclave. This provides additional security against infection as the implements, once cleaned and sterilised, are then secured in a plastic pouch until their next use, so guaranteeing their sterility.

All work areas and general practice spaces are also thoroughly cleaned on a regular basis and we are inspected by both the Quality Care Commision (our results can be seen at http://www.cqc.org.uk/location/1-218909820 ) and Denplan regularly.

Dentist and Patient

All of our dental team wear protective masks and gloves during all procedures, including a simple examination. This prevents both infections on the hands and airborne infections from spreading between dentist and patient and patient and dentist.

Our standards of care and hygiene, along with our friendly and professional dental team are key to us running a successful and popular family dental practice in Burton, and we have every intention of ensuring that we do not allow our standards to slip. Patients, whether adults or children, are our prime concern and we will do all that we can to ensure that their visits to Mike Allen’s Dental Practice are both safe and successful.

Feedback

Like all professionals, we enjoy receiving positive testimonials from our patients, but we are also more than happy to receive constructive feedback of areas where you think we could improve. Whilst we do everything in our power to ensure a safe and successful practice, there is nothing better than extra pairs of eyes to make sure that this continues. If you have any suggestions for areas of improvement, you can contact us through one of the methods on our contact page, or speak to one of our helpful receptionists when you visit, who will be happy to pass on your views.
