Armed with the information that we now have though, wouldn\u2019t it be a good idea to make sure that our children grow up with strong and healthy teeth<\/a>; and, both as parents and as a dentist, we can help them to achieve this.<\/p>\n Setting a good example<\/strong><\/p>\n Anyone with a young child will know that it is difficult to persuade them to do something if you don\u2019t follow the same rules yourself. If you regularly skip brushing your teeth, there is every likelihood that they will think it unimportant too. The same applies if you eat a lot of sweets and chocolates; the chances are that so will your child, with all the negative consequences that may bring. This may be a good opportunity for you to look at improving both your general and oral health by cutting down on sugar and encouraging your child too as well. You should also supervise your child whilst they clean their teeth, making sure that they do so correctly. Our dental hygienist is always happy to advise the best way to do this.<\/p>\n
